Plan for Majahual includes a 1,000 room hotel, Cruise ship Terminal also has a commercial centre, restaurants and bars. Isaac Hamui Abadi, president of the Miraro Group, presented the plans for the construction of a cruiseship terminal in the town of Majahual. The project will include a 1,000 room hotel, a commercial centre, two palapas, restaurants and bars on 8,000 square meters of land with an investment of $21 million dollars. In a meeting in El Teatro Constituyentes, the promoter of the project announced that work will begin on December 14th, 2000 and that local businesspeople will rent and operate the spaces in the buildings. Abadi indicated a preference for investors from southern Quintanna Roo to participate in the project and that there will be tremendous growth in the area as a result of the development of Majahual as a cruise ship destination. The project is expected to generate at least 700 local jobs in sales, tourist guides, taxis, gardeners, maintenance personnel, artists, security guards, cooks, and performers.
In the same event, Hamui Abadi delivered a check for $1 million dollars to the Secretary of Tourism, Guillermo Martinez Flowers, for the promotion of the Costa Maya. To further promote the Majahual Cruise Terminal, the Miraro Group is contributing $2 million dollars to the state of Quintanna Roo, $3 million dollars to the National Board for the Promotion of Tourism, and an equal amount to the Secretary of the department of Communications and Transportation. Businessmen who attended the event said that this is an incredible opportunity for growth and development in the Southern portion of Quintanna Roo.
