Accommodations

St. Martin Villa Rentals is a management company which handles over 30 privately owned villas on the island of St. Martin/St. Maarten.  All of the homes are available to guests who would enjoy hillside or beachfront surroundings in an exciting Caribbean environment.  For more information on other services we provide our clients visit our Client Services page.

Liability

It is important to remember that each house/villa is a private home.  St. Martin Villa Rentals is the agent and makes the house available for rent by the owners.  Its owner staffs each house with a maid, gardener and in some instances additional personnel.  The villa staff are employees of the home owner and not St. Martin Villa Rentals.  Neither St. Martin Villa Rentals nor its agents shall be liable for any damages arising in connection with the services provided by any member of the villa staff or the facilities provided by the villa owner.

The villa owner nor the company and/or its agents shall be liable for any injury or damage to a guest or to any person who uses or is in the house.  Nor will the villa owner, the company and/or its agents be liable for damage to the property, except to the extent that such damages are the direct result of of the owner's or company's negligence.  Each guest is responsible for all acts of the guest's family and all other persons the guest invites into the villa.

Guests must keep the house and all its appliances, equipment, furniture, furnishings and other personal property supplied therewith clean and in good order and repair.  Failure to do so will entitle the villa owner, or St. Martin Villa Rentals on behalf of the owner, to make appropriate repairs at the guest's expense.  However, guests are not responsible for ordinary wear or damage by the elements.  Guests must give St. Martin Villa Rentals immediate notice in case of fire or other damage to the house and/or its contents.

Payment and Cancellation Policy

Reservations must be accompanied at the time of booking with a 25% non-refundable deposit (50% for Christmas/New Year's bookings).  A reservation will not be confirmed until St. Martin Villa Rentals has actually received payment.  Final payment including all taxes and miscellaneous charges is due 60 days prior to arrival (90 days for Christmas/New Year's bookings).

Cancellation from 45 to 15 days prior to arrival is a loss of 50% of the gross rental price and cancellation within 15 days of arrival is a 100% loss of rental monies.  All Christmas/New Year's bookings are completely non-refundable.  A refund of all or part of the total rental price is given only if the villa is rebooked for the dates of travel by another party.  St. Martin Rentals does not refund money for acts of nature such as hurricanes.  If such weather conditions prevent you from traveling to the island every effort will be made to reschedule your rental within one year of the original travel dates.  All rental money will be held by St. Martin Rentals through your rescheduled rental dates.

All payments must be made with personal checks, cashier's checks, traveler's checks or cash in US Dollars.  Credit Cards are not accepted.  There is a $25.00 charge for all wire transfers.

Settlement of Accounts

Any additional expenses incurred while staying at the villa will be paid in full prior to departure from the island.  These must be paid in either cash or traveler's checks.

Additional Information

Check out time is 12:00pm.  All efforts are made to have accommodations available upon arrival; however, immediate availability cannot be guaranteed.

Children are welcome in St. Martin/St. Maarten but some villas are not suitable for children.  Cots, cribs and car seats are available for rental via St. Martin Villa Rentals.  Please inquire at the time of booking.

Currency on the French side is the French Franc, on the Dutch side it is the Netherlands Antilles Guilder; however the US Dollar is accepted everywhere.

Tipping is recommended for satisfactory service.   Service charges are included at most restaurants on the French side and some on the Dutch side.

Dress is informal.  Women dress casually, lightweight cotton shorts, shirts, etc.  Gentlemen wear open neck shirts; jackets are not worn.  It is our experience that almost everyone over-packs.

All of the Dutch side homes have 110 volt electricity.   Many of the French side homes have 220 volt electricity.  Universal adapters and small transformers for North American appliances may be needed.

Most homes have a telephone which is restricted to island use.  Credit card calls are possible and cellular phones are available to rent.  You can bring your own cellular phone and have it activated while on the island.
